![]() The early scenes act as a training mission (every video game necessarily has one) where you not only learn the rules of the game but also a little bit about the character you control. Once the credits have finished (ending with the legend, “Based upon Star Trek created by Gene Roddenberry,” which immediately made it feel like a canon Trek property) we meet Rydek, in the shuttle with an ensign, both on their way to their new commission on the Resolute. The colorful art style gives the game a comic-book feel and the voice acting is excellent. From the moment the game began, I got a thrill as I watched a shuttlecraft traveling through space. ![]() The idea is to immerse the player in the story, making them feel like they are a part of the game’s world. Perhaps it’s because I’m a writer and a theater professional that I find the story elements of games so important and feel a need to absorb every word. Until then, I had just assumed everyone who played games would be. They found it interesting that I was so invested in the story. One of the things they noticed was that I read every word that appeared on the screen. Dramatic Labs' new game isn't that far away, with an announced release window of Spring 2022. Like past Telltale games, Star Trek: Resurgence places extra value in players' choices, with the narrative and story being directly influenced by the path players decide to take. ![]() Two alien civilizations are poised to go to war, and it's up to players (alongside new and returning Star Trek characters) to uncover secrets and navigate the tumultuous situation. In Resurgence, players will take control of two characters, First Officer Jara Rydek and Engineering Crewperson Carter Diaz, aboard the vessel USS Resolute. Star Trek: Resurgence will feel familiar to Telltale fans, as it's a third-person narrative adventure game where players make choices in their actions and dialogue to direct where the story goes. ![]()
